WE ARE SAFE

Our Taekwondo style is kept traditional. This ensures it is taught in the most effective and safe manner possible. We know our students' strengths and weaknesses and take care of each student individually and properly.

More often than not martial art schools push their students past what is safe and is realistic for their level. Martial arts should be about accenting a student’s strengths and not demeaning them for their limitations

WE ARE NON-VIOLENT

We teach martial arts the way it was designed, for health, fitness, personal development and longevity. We don’t develop aggressive behavior; we diffuse it. Also, putting pads on preschoolers for sparring is not a part of our curriculum.

THE OTHER GUYS
Many martial art schools are teaching aggressive styles to kids like mixed martial arts (MMA Cage fighting) and Israeli fighting systems that were strictly designed for the military with one goal in mind… terminate your attacker!

WE ARE A TRUE MARTIAL ARTS ACADEMY

We are not a daycare but a professional personal development and character-building program for the entire family. You won’t see pick up and drop off in our program but a lot of familial unity.

THE OTHER GUYS
Many martial schools are getting into the pick up service and after school babysitting. This is more of a day care program than a martial arts program. This is a way for the other guys to produce more income because their martial arts program is not strong enough to support itself. Most rental car companies will not even rent out those 12 passenger vans due to safety concerns, liability and due to the vans being unstable. And by the way, have you seen this report on the dangers of those types of vans?

WE ARE CLEAN and GREEN

You will find a incredibly clean, and good smelling facility when you enter our building. Our training floors are disinfected daily with a safe, non-toxic cleaner that kills all bacteria and viruses but will not affect anyone with allergies or asthma. You will find our bathrooms much like what you have at home, including a changing table for babies with all the necessities provided.

It is not uncommon to enter a martial art facility that smells, is dirty, has carpeted training areas instead of special vinyl training mats. If you are going to have people traffic and a work-out environment it MUST be cleaned properly and disinfected.

WE ARE RELIABLE

The owner and Master Instructor of Tiger-Rock Martial Arts has been operating in Tallahassee since 1999 and has been a member of Tiger Rock Martial Arts for over 18 years. He continues to stay very active teaching lessons personally and has all his assistant instructors pass franchise standards and back ground checks before they can teach or assist

It is not uncommon for martial art academies to have inexperienced instructors teaching the lessons, including teenagers under 18. They also tend to have high turn around changing ownerships, losing head instructors etc.

WE ARE INVOLVED

We have spent much time supporting the community by staying involved. We are contributors to Whole Child Leon, the public school system and several other charities and organizations. Last year alone we raised over $2000 for several Leon County Schools

We have not seen others take care of the community by offering their services or any type of donations

WE ARE FLEXIBLE

We offer a schedule of lessons 5 days a week for students to pick from along with make up days incase a student has been absent due to special circumstances. The average student trains 2 days per week. Lessons are broken up by beginner, intermediate and advanced students

Many facilities offer lessons twice a week at one time and you either make it or you don’t and/or they mix classes with so many ranks it is hard to give anyone specialized attention

WE HAVE NO HIDDEN FEES

We don’t charge extra for belt testing fees. When it is time to test for a new belt every 8-10 weeks students will not have to pay an extra fee and feel they are being “nickel and dimed” to death. You will also be rest assured your are testing because you are ready, not because we are trying to get more money out of you

THE OTHER GUYS
It is very common for martial art schools to charge up to $60 every time you want to move up to the next belt. At an average of 6 testings a year, that is an additional $360 a year. Are you being recommended to test because you are ready or are they just trying to get more money out of you?

WE ARE AUTHENTIC AND AGE APPROPRIATE

We won’t start students until they are developmentally ready. Three year olds are not typically ready for martial arts and will not be ready until they reach the age of 4. We want you to get the most out of your investment and your child to benefit fully confidently when they train.

THE OTHER GUYS
Many martial art programs today claim they can teach three years olds effectively. But unless they are very close to 4 years of age they are not at the age they will comprehend what is being taught. To confuse children and waste parents’ money is unethical.

WE ARE EASILY ACCESSIBLE

Communication is one great key to success. We keep our members informed with two weekly e-newsletters a week. Second, our staff asks each group of parents per class if they need any specific help. We are never too busy and are always accessible by email, office and cell phone.

Martial Arts can be very confusing if you have never taken it before and if no one is answering questions it can be very frustrating for both the parent who wants to help their child and the adult who wants to learn more.

WE ARE SUPPORTIVE

There is also a website that is accessible which includes special videos of everything you need to know for each belt, this makes it very easy to practice at home or on vacation. You can even learn how to tie your belt!
